Your life has become emotionally painful every day. You don't know what happened exactly, but it seems as though you are spiraling with anxious thoughts and emotions. You just can't seem to stop the worries and the negativity running through your mind. It preoccupies you through the day, keeping you too afraid to have fun or to even talk to people. You are missing out on what other kids' your age are doing like hanging out with friends, going out for a sport, or planning your future. You are just trying to survive. It's all so exhausting and zaps your energy, creativity, and motivation. It's even affecting your sleep.
Now, your grades are dropping, and your parents or teachers are on you. They seem concerned, but you don't think they know how to help you. You realize that professional help is the next step. Life must be more than what you've been experiencing. You are terrified of the future but believe that it is less scary than staying stuck where you are.
I help teens who are struggling with anxiety and depression and are ready to return to living a life of peace and joy. I help by providing tools and strategies that will help them to cope with difficult emotions and to better understand themselves and what really matters.
Young Adult
As a parent, you are concerned about the changes in your child's mood and behavior. They are withdrawn from people and activities that were once enjoyable and important. They don't talk as much and are sensitive to seemingly minor things. They get nervous towards social interactions and are preoccupied with making a mistake, appearing awkward and being judged by others. They have a negative view of the world and the people around them. They lack peace, confidence, and joy in life. You love them dearly and have tried to help them, but think that professional help, someone outside of the family, is needed to help with their challenges.
Anxiety is the most common reason that people seek out counseling. It needs to be treated because without treatment. it is likely to get worse and leaves a person feeling exhausted and even depressed as the anxiety cycle continues to repeat itself.
Anxiety treatment is hopeful and encouraging because it makes sense and gives understanding to what was previously not understood.
